The Program we use to catechize the children at St. Leo’s is the Blest Are We program by Silver Burdett Ginn

Here is the scope & sequence of their catechism:

Preschoolers are learning about God and how he helps us. They learn about themselves and about things, people and places around them.

Kindergarteners are learning about all that God has created, the sun, world, animals, people, ME and all about me. They also focus on family, friends, neighbors and God’s love; followed up by focusing on Jesus and his love for us.

1st Graders learn about our Church Community and our Loving God. They will also focus on Jesus, the Holy Spirit and Jesus’ church of followers.

2nd Graders along with preparing for their sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist they are learning about Mass and living with Peace.

3rd Graders are learning about the church and what we as Catholics believe. They along the way learn about Saints. Their focus is understanding the special ness we have as Catholics.

4th Graders are getting a more in depth view of the Trinity: God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and how it all fits with us, the church.

5th Graders are focusing this year on the Sacraments and the meaning for Catholics.
