The Catholic Sprouts Podcast is a daily podcast for Catholic kids. The short episodes are designed to plant one seed of faith each day. Topics covered include Catholic Feast Days, Morality, Catholic Theology, the saints and the sacraments.
This one comes out weekly and features one saint, first with a little biography and then a story about something from their life. There are currently 57 episodes to listen to, and they can certainly be listened to multiple times. The girls really do like these and have learned lots of tidbits about a variety of saints (I’ve learned a lot as well). I like that they offer both well known saints and some I’ve never heard of. These are the perfect length for the drive to school (5-10 minutes).
Meg travels around the world sharing about a whole host of Catholic things. While the whole podcast is not focused on kids, she has many episodes (21 I think) that are called Saints for kids. These are usually talks she has given to kids about a variety of saints. She loves to pick out saints we have never heard of before and also tells such exciting stories.
Created and produced by parents of young children, WBUR's Circle Round adapts carefully-selected folktales from around the world into sound- and music-rich radio plays for kids ages 4 to 10. Each 10- to 20-minute episode explores important issues like kindness, persistence and generosity. And each episode ends with an activity that inspires a deeper conversation between children and grown-ups.
NPR personalities Mindy Thomas and Guy Raz “guide curious kids and their grown-ups on a journey into the wonders of the world around them” on their podcast Wow in the World. Wow in the World provides discussion of the most kid-friendly news stories of the week, primarily focusing on topics of science and technology.
Each episode begins with questions about a new amazing scientific discovery or finding, which are answered through comedy and debate. This show is funny and engaging, and will help kids learn.
