Hello and welcome to a new year,
a year of new challenges, surprising blessings
and beautiful graces
So glad you were able to find your way here☺
↓↓Registration button is below the letter of explanation!↓↓
Dear Families with Elementary age children,
The First Semester (September through December) our Parish will be experiencing Children’s Faith Formation through AT HOME LEARNING. We will re-evaluate in December whether we return to in person classes for second semester.
The decision to move to “At Home Learning” was based on careful consideration, much discussion and a lot of research, development and prayer.
Lessons and activities will be provided to your family two ways:
1. On our website.
The activities & lessons may be downloaded and printed at home.
All of the month's information and requirements will be located on the
NEW Website dedicated to Family Faith Formation
2. Pick up packets.
The same lessons will be available for pick up THE FIRST SUNDAY
OF THE MONTH at each mass OR from the Church office (during regular hours).
You will be able to drop off completed assignments when you pick up the new month’s lesson, if you did not submit them online.
Lessons and activities are based on a central theme and resources will be given
with grade-level appropriate discussion points based on The Catechism of the Catholic Church and the K-5 Religious Education Standards.
These lessons may be completed at any time during the month.
Lessons may have, but are not limited to, these items:
▪ Video – The video helps build background knowledge for your child
or it will help them recall what they may already know about the
topic. Videos will require internet access.
All links to the videos will be posted on our website
and links will be on the weekly lesson plan.
▪ Discussion and activities – these will be done with you and your child together.
▪ Weekly Bible Story
▪ Weekly Saint discussion
▪ Summary of the week’s topics
▪ Ending prayer – including learning new prayers
We understand if you do not get to every part of the lessons each month.
However, it is important to discuss the topics with your children and completed the required assignments.
One way to achieve this is by continuing to use Sundays & Wednesdays
as days that you can focus on Faith Formation,
as if your child was still attending on site Religious Ed classes.
It is hoped that conversations happen throughout the week about the lessons as well.
Turning in required assignments can/will account for attendance.
Attendance is paramount as to keep everyone on the same tract for when we are able to meet in person again.
Those that are in their Sacramental year will still be preparing for their Sacraments, we will have additional resources and activities for the whole family to participate in with the candidate.
Poor attendance may result in a delay in your child receiving their Sacraments
and can result in them being behind when we gather together again.
So we ask in your cooperation in this task of keeping on target.
Also that you provide us with an email that you check in with regularly.
Maybe even have one that is dedicated just for at home learning.
We will continue to use REMIND as well to get short messages out.
Please make sure your child completes these required items
and returns them on the first Sunday of the Month
as you pick up your new monthly activities
OR submits them online by taking a picture and emailing the activity.
As always, if you have any questions please E-mail us
and we’ll get back with you as soon as we can.
We recognize that this year has been a challenge for all families.
We are trying to make Faith Formation go as smooth and SAFE as possible.
If we work together, this will be an amazing, blessed benefit to your family and everyone’s faith journey.
We hope you have an understanding of why it has been decided
to do At Home Learning.
If further explanation or assistance is necessary,
please contact us so we can have a conversation on
the concerns, reasoning’s and/or how we can be of help.
Our hopes and prayers are that we can reconvene for second semester
for in person classes at St Leo’s.
Let us keep this as a constant in all of our daily prayers.
Peace & blessings,
~ Jodi Stauffer

Even though we are not meeting onsite for the first semester,
we still are needing catechists and help from our parents,
now and when we reconvene.
