Hello to the great disciples of St. Leo’s!
I am advising you first and foremost that this will be a rather lengthy letter as there are several things that need to be explained and I want to be thorough in the explanation to avoid any major confusion.
But before getting into the details – I feel it’s important to say THANK YOU!!!
Thank you so much to each and every one of you that has given your time & talents to serve our parish through our mass ministries. I feel very fortunate to know that we have reliable volunteers that will step up to serve the Lord and our Parish; to know that our Masses will run smoothly because even if people are not on the schedule they will take on the duty of ministering to their fellow parishioner. You are all great disciples and deserve that added shine to your halo
I have specific items for each ministry but I will start with information that is needed for all our volunteers.
NEW WAY TO SIGN IN
When you are scheduled to serve at Mass, we need you to check in that you are present and willing to take on your duties. Previously we have had a paper that you checked your name off. We now have an iPad, ie M Kiosk. It is fairly simple to operate.
If you have not done this yet the following will walk you through it, if you have then I would just go to the next item in this email. ☺
To check in, you will need make sure the Mass you are volunteering for is open on the iPad. To open, you click on the green button START, it should open to the current Mass schedule. There you will find all the volunteers that are scheduled. Click on Your Name, sliding out will be a bar that has a green button that says check in. Click on that. A check mark should appear besides your name. If you accidentally checked the wrong name, click the name again and the green box will now say undo check in. If need be, click it.
Now if you are filling in for someone scheduled- click on their name, the bar will slide out and there will be a gray rectangle that says REPLACE, click that. It will open a screen that has a place to type your name click on it and a keyboard will appear on screen. Start typing your name, once your name appears select it and poof! You are now checked in. Same procedure if we are missing a volunteer – click on the NOT FILLED, and type your name.
And that is how we need ALL of our volunteers to check in – otherwise it will put you down in the system as a no show.
MSP APP
Rather than me type a long drawn out explanation about this I am going to refer you all to the handy dandy guide that explains the WEB TERMNIAL and the MOBILE APP.
https://www.ministryschedulerpro.com/resources/WebTerminalGuide2019.pdf
I strongly encourage you to download and begin using the App. It is soooo very handy.
Everything you can do on the computer using the Web Terminal you can do on your smart phone. Everything includes, but not limited to: update your informations, inform when you can or cannot server, requesting a sub, swapping with another volunteer, volunteering to fill in, and even checking while in the pew before mass start if all the volunteers have checked in!! There are some really cool things in this App that I really feel most will find both beneficial & helpful.
If you don’t know how to use the Web Terminal, the guide will walk you through it first. It is also another great benefit we have with the MINISTRY SCHEDULER PRO. Thank you to all that have been utilizing it, it has made such a difference, in finding subs and filling in the NEED A VOLUNTEER spots, as well as when I begin to set the schedule.
Here is the link again for that wonderful guide … if you still have questions, please send them my way.

LECTOR BOOKS
If you are a Lector and would like to have the 2020 Workbook for Lectors (a book that has all the readings starting with Advent, helpful hints, pronunciations, etc.) they are in the sacristy. One per family please.
Also note, that the MyParishApp has the readings within it that you can refer to, as well as the MSP App (that hopefully you will have downloaded onto your smart phone.) You can look up the readings within that App too!
DECEMBER SCHEDULE CHANGES
As you probably heard last week at Mass or read about it in the bulletin. We will NOT be administering the Precious Blood; which means we need less Eucharistic Ministers at each Mass.
Since December was already scheduled, I needed to make a few adjustments. Trying to make sure everyone is given an opportunity to serve, I may have moved some people around, so if you are an EME please check the new DECEMBER SCHEDULE. You can check it out on the WEB TERMINAL (if you have not registered you will need to do that to be a part of all the helpful things you can do to make volunteering that much easier)
https://secure.rotundasoftware.com/p/web-terminal/login/stleosgi
I will also have hard copies on the counter for those that do not have access to the internet.
FLU SEASON MEANS NO PRECIOUS BLOOD
Again, to reiterate, we will only need 2 Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist unless Deacon Bill is scheduled, then we will need only one. This is a message for all Eucharistic Ministers as well as our Altar Servers as they will need to change up some of their duties, basically they will not have to hand out the purificators but will still need to take the extra plate up to the Altar.
Please parents make sure your Altar Server know s of these changes, as well as the addition to the bells.
THE BELLS
I really hope all of our Altar Servers have served since adding the bells into the service but in case they have not or are still unsure of how the bells are to be done ... here’s a quick rundown. When the priest extends BOTH ARMS over the Altar during the Eucharistic Prayer, the server picks up the bells and gives a good shake of the bells. Then when the priest holds up the Host/Body of Christ the server picks up and rings the bells 3 times (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) When the priest holds up the Cup/Precious Blood, again the server rings the bells 3 times (TF,TS, a THS). That’s it. Easy Peasy. Please review this with your child.
Also, we are in severe need of Altar Servers for Saturday night and 8am Sunday Masses. If you have children that are 5th grade and older, please invite them, encourage them to become Altar Servers. They can count them toward their service hours and better than that they get to server our parish and our Lord!! What a blessing and honor!
Ok so .. that is all that I have as of now.
Again, I cannot thank you enough for your willingness to live out your baptismal call by being of service to our parish and our Lord!
Peace & blessings,
